Puffin Electric, Inc. was established as an electrical contracting company in Homer, Alaska in 1984 by business partners Bruce Hess and Polly Prindle-Hess. In 1995, it became an S Corporation and has over the years grown into a General Contractor with specialties in Electrical Construction and Energy Conservation Services. Puffin Electric, Inc. has transitioned into PEI, LLC, now owned by Chris Morin.

PEI, LLC focuses on commercial, industrial, public works, marine electrical installations, and lighting energy conservation projects throughout Alaska. Over the years, Puffin Electric/PEI has established and maintained professional relationships with many consultants, specialty contractors and manufacturers.

We have completed projects throughout Alaska, routinely handling complex logistics, schedules, and the vagaries of Alaska weather. Our scope of services includes design consulting, value engineering, general construction, electrical construction, and energy conservation services. PEI performs commissioning and customer training for our completed projects. We provide advanced electronic project estimates as well as electronic documentation on a routine basis.

PEI possesses in-house expertise in a wide variety of contracting specialties. Some of these include concrete work, steel building erection, carpentry, building finishes, mechanical systems, electrical work, video, security and fire alarm systems, environmental control, sound and PA systems, computer & telephone networking, lighting design and energy conservation services.

PEI has proven adept at simultaneously managing a diverse set of remote projects. We believe in a collaborative and open style with a commitment to professionalism, excellence, and integrity.

Chris graduated from Clemson University in 1994 with a BS in Civil Engineering. He has worked in the construction industry for 28 years as a project manager with various organizations. From 1994-2004 Chris lived and worked in the Seattle area. 2004-2008 worked as a project manager for a general contractor in Homer, Alaska. In November 2008, Chris joined Puffin Electric, Inc. where he worked for 11 years. In December 2018, he started PEI, LLC after owners of Puffin Electric, Inc decided to retire. Chris lives in Homer, Alaska with his wife Shannon McBride-Morin and two daughters Sophie and Sabina. Shannon, with her brother, co-own and operate The Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge across the bay from Homer, Alaska.
